IAN HUNTER 1981! - THE HORROR THAT IS "SHORT BACK 'N' SIDES" A TRULY MISGUIDED HORROR

Submitted for your approval one black sheep of the
Ian Hunter catalog, a rare 1981 album that found
my man struggling for a sound amidst the many
emerging those first couple of 80's years. The
album comes across as a leftovers or odds and
sods but was in fact recorded in 1980. Mick
Jones and Topper from the Clash are guesting
along with Todd Rundgren but there's only
thing that saves this album and that's the songs.
Helloooo, this is Ian *$%@ Hunter and we've
come to expect nothing but greatness in the
writing department and guess what? There's
at least several real gems on here, Gun Control
is solid driving Ian angst and we do have Mick
Jones to thank for the harder/tougher sound.
Lisa Likes Rock N Roll is so whacked out
I still don't know what to say after several
decades, I just know I dig it. Noises is classic
early 80's Gary Numan-ish and the album's
most well-known tune, Old Records Never
Die is one of the most beautiful IH ballads
in his canon. Bottom line- If
you already have at least one Ian record in
your collection then you will probably like
this, but if you're treading of the Ian Hunter
waters is limited to Cleveland Rocks or
Once Bitten Twice Shy, then you probably
won't, ya dig me? Groovy baby.
THE HORROR!!
