ELVIS COSTELLO 1980! - REVISITING THE HORROR KNOWN AS "GET HAPPY," A NEW WAVE MASTERPIECE

If ever there was a time to dispatch a "GET HAPPY" message, I reckon this would be it. Not that today is different from any other day or anything. Anyways, in 1980, EC put out this 20-song set, his 4th album and the first real departure from the early sound. It's still here but colored in with R&B, soul and ska for 20 winners, every single one. So Get Happy or Get Horrific but don't pass on checking out this album, especially if you've never heard it.....The Horror!!

Get Happy!!

A monstrously intricate set of miniature epics about political violence and commitment, fascism and fashion, dialectics and ambiguity, Elvis Costello's Armed Forces (1979) was still a gorgeously seductive piece of high-style pop. Now Costello has made a record about that most accessible of pop subjects.
