Horrific New Year everybody, closing it out with one of the best New Year's Eve related movies ever made. Strange Days Movie Review & Film Summary (1995) | Roger Ebert

We know we want it. We want to see through other people's eyes, have their experiences, stand in their shoes. That's the unspoken promise of the movies, and as the unsettling prospect of computer-generated virtual reality creeps closer, it is possible that millions now living will know exactly what it feels like to be somebody else.

Your not-so-humble blogmaster. Great year for the blog, thanks to all who have visited. Just for shits and grins, here's 5 of the best bootlegs that I discovered and heard for the first time this year. I must say it's a handsome group of.....The Horror!! These links are in ascending order, the Bowie is #5, the Deep Purple is #1, n joy

DAVID BOWIE 1971! - 'AYLESBURY FRIARS CLUB' FIRST KNOWN LIVE CAPTURE AN ABSOLUTE HORROR

Dig this 1971 one-off Bowie show that starts off acoustic and then out comes the band with Mick Ronson. It's all captured with what sounds like a mic over rail and best of all, we're hearing the interchange between audience and Bowie, he was breaking out that year and the sense of being on the brink of super-stardom is very palatable, thumbs way up on this one...The Horror!!

JEFF BECK AND JAN HAMMER GROUP 1976! - 'DAY ON THE GREEN' AT OAKLAND COLISEUM THE HORROR!

Oh myyyy, don't believe I've ever had the honor to hear a JB boot from this time period which on this concert included a violin player... The Horror! Sounds great - Grade A audience capture - A-- JB makes comment a few songs in about never having played to such a large audience, nice!

THE HORROR THAT IS "LED ZEPPELIN LIVE 1973 CONCERT MATRIX"! - A FAN MADE COMPILATION

Pretty cool fan-made compilation, we only know the list of songs and not sources. Every song is soundboard and the song list is almost com- prehensive but looks like the fan missed Communication Breakdown which was played here and there as an encore that year, all in all a very nicely done compilation..The Horror!

DEREK & THE DOMINOS 1970! - LATE SHOW ON 1ST NIGHT FILLMORE EAST CREME DE LE HORROR!

Greetings all from the Misty Mountain Top. Or is it Hop? Anyways a very fine and tasty Clapton boot with A+ sound and performance, dig it! Fillmore East, New York, NY - 23 and 24 October 1970 (Late Shows) There's a difference of opinion as to how these shows rate.

BRACE YOURSELF FOR THIS NEXT HORROR, IT'S "DEEP PURPLE IN HELL"! - LIVE 1970 FAN MADE COMP

And where has THIS been all my life? Sheeesh, out of left field comes this excellently done 1970 (and a little '69, who's not up for a little 69 now and then) culled from several shows and BBC sess, don't pass go, don't collect $200, just run for the exits....The Horror!!

SPARKS 1984! - REVISITING THE HORROR KNOWN AS "PULLING RABBITS OUT OF A HAT" - SHEER HORROR

Sparks on Atlantic? Who would have thunk it? 1984's follow-up to Sparks In Outer Space didn't exactly set the world on fire, in fact it went bounce, thud. It's a strange album in the sense that it didn't chart at all in US but the title track got heavy airplay on KROQ and "With All My Might" did great as a single. There are some great tunes on this album even though a lot of Sparks fans hate this album....The Horror!!

The Sparks Project - Review: Pulling Rabbits Out Of A Hat - Kittysneezes

Who don't love Sparks? I suppose the folks who don't know who Sparks are might not love Sparks, but that's only because of plum ignorance. But REST EASY, reader - we're here to set you straight by reviewing ALL the Sparks records - and not just by one, but TWO (and maybe occasionally MORE!)

Sparks - Pulling Rabbits Out Of A Hat, review by tarkus1980

While wasn't my ideal kind of music, it nonetheless exuded competence and class, and I feel like I could play good chunks of that album in the presence of others without feeling sheepish. This album, alas, retains almost none of the good from In Outer Space and magnifies much of the bad (potential or realized) from that album, and the result is a disaster.

A COUPLE OF RESOURCEFUL FILM STUDENTS MAKE "THE LAST BROADCAST" FOR $900 - THE HORROR!!

Considering what they had to work with (or more like what they didn't have to work with,) these
two film student friends made a heck of an interesting indie based on the ole lost in the woods murder thing. With some crafty editing, a few friends and only 900 bucks they made this horror mockumentary, a first of it's kind preceding Blair Witch Project by at least a year. However, our film students get points taken away for the ending, which is generally agreed to be one of the worst in all of cinema...The Horror!! The Last Broadcast ( 1998 ) - New Jersey Devil Myth

The Last Broadcast is a Found Footage effort that covers the New Jersey Devil myth. If I'm honest I only watched this film for the first time last week as I found it hard to find a decent version of it.

The Last Broadcast (1998) Movie Review - Horrorphilia

Can we remove the last ten minutes of this film please?? The Prologue If you are a fan of "lost footage" films, or first person point of view films, or however you want to word it. Odds are you think The Blair Witch Project was the film that started all of that right?

The movie's villain.

FIVE GREAT IAN HUNTER SOLO SONGS YOU PROBABLY NEVER HEARD BEFORE- THE HORROR!!

Always up for tipping my hat to Mr Hunter, one of the great legends of rock and a brilliantly talented songwriter- Here's 5 of his best AFTER MOTT THE HOOPLE solo tunes, ya dig? The Horror!!
STILL LOVE ROCK AND ROLL - This opening track from the solid but not stellar "Rant" album is pure Ian at his best - great vocals, band, lyrics, passion, production, it's all here in this track. Glad they stuck it number one cause imo the album goes slowly downhill from there.
ONE FINE DAY - This song from Ian's first solo album's sessions in 1975 first saw the light of day in 2001 on a compilation album and then again for '05's 30th anniversary of said album. The tune may be a ditty at 2:22 but it's a piano chord banging rocker that has Ian screaming positivity about being back on the scene. Want a song to get your day started, throw this on before you walk out the door.
LISA LIKES ROCK N ROLL - One of those love-it or hate-it type songs, this one deserves a listen for the production alone. I can't say I've ever heard a song mixed like this. Thumbs up!
WHEN THE WORLD WAS ROUND - From 2011's Shrunken Heads album, this song is Ian on all 8 cylinders, Just a beautiful ballad and Ian's vocal on this is one of his very best,
SILVER NEEDLES - Recorded live in the studio during the first week of 1980, this filler tune for the Welcome To The Club live album is a country-tinged ballad done on the total fly, but guess what? It works!
THE SHEER HORROR!!

GENESIS 1977! - THE HORROR KNOWN AS "ZURICH REVISITED," AN OUTSTANDING SBD/AUD MATRIX

It's a goody! Got this about three years ago on one of the blogs, sorry can't remember which one, it's an outstanding matrix that had some good ole TLC put into it's production, nice one lad!....The Horror!! 7daylink Rating A+

NOT FROM THE BLACK CROWES ARCHIVES! - 1996 LAS VEGAS GIG AT THE JOINT IS A MUST HEAR HORROR

This is one of those great shows that's been traded a lot thru the years. If you're into checkin' out Crowes shows, this is a must. The one-two opening punch of Jailhouse Rock and Feelin' Alright set the tone for a stellar set that includes two covers of The Band and a three Stones songs encore. This is Marc & Rich at their best on a tasty '96 soundboard end of tour show,,,,The Horror!! Streaming below. Rating A+ Set List

JOHN CUSACK FINDS SOME "MONEY FOR NOTHING" IN THIS 1993 COMEDY/GANGSTER - THE HORROR!

Love the glasses John. Anybody remember THIS one? I must admit I had totally forgot about this film until recommended recently by the YouTube robots. Simply story and one that's been around the block more than a few times- working stiff finds money, decides to not turn it in and of course lands up learning valuable moral lesson. Zzzzz, but it' done pretty well. Best thing about this flick is the casting where we have some greats in their earlier years, Michael Rappaport, Phillip S Hoffman, Mike Madsen and others. My one big complaint with this one though is the uneven tone as it tries to stay a comedy and a gangster film at the same time and lands up tripping over itself. All in all Money For Nothing get's Three Pinewoods...for nothing....The Horror!!

Money for Nothing (1993 film) - Wikipedia

Money for Nothing is a 1993 American comedy crime film directed by Ramón Menéndez. It is based on a reporter's article about the life of Joey Coyle, an unemployed longshoreman in Philadelphia who, on February 26, 1981, found $1.2 million in the middle of the street after it had fallen out of the back of an armored car.
