CALLING THE WEEK A WRAP WITH PAUL WESTERBERG 2008! - THE COMPLETE HORROR KNOWN AS "49:00"

In 2008, this loose concept album came out of nowhere. Look it's a plane, it's a bird, no it's PW's new solo album. A flawed masterpiece if there ever was one, the tunes here weave in and out of each other, some pieces of tunes collide at the same time. But make no mistake, these tunes have all the quality we know and expect from the man. And as if that isn't enough, the album ends with a mash-up of various cover tunes by Paul including Partridge Family and Steppenwolf! 49 minutes of pure PW bliss....The Horror!!

Album Review: "49:00" by Paul Westerberg

Up until about a week ago, I had no clue former Replacements singer/songwriter Paul Westerberg had a new solo album out. I mean, admittedly I don't check up on the guy too often, but when I caught sight of the album on Pitchfork I was a bit surprised.

Paul Westerberg: 49:00

On December 31, Paul Westerberg will turn 49. Now, 49's not the most famous or familiar of birthday milestones, but for a guy who once embodied the frustrations and reckless follies of youth, turning almost 50 may be milestone enough.

THE HORROR!!
