THE HORROR THAT IS "JUST BEFORE DAWN"! - 1981 INDIE WOODS SLASHER AT CULT HORROR STATUS

Here's an obscure one in the 80's slasher realm, an effective woodsy thriller for sures. Add to that two great actors no longer with us, Mike Kellin and Chris Lemmon, Jack Lemmon's son. Just Before Dawn (1981)

'Just Before Dawn' did not make so much as a whimper during its theatrical release but since then has quite rightfully built a sturdy cult following on home video. Over the last 32 years at the time of writing, the film has been lauded among horror aficionados for being one of the very best backwoods set entries into the slasher sub-genre influenced by John Boorman's masterful 1972 survival thriller 'Deliverance'.

Film Review: Just Before Dawn (1981) | HNN

SYNOPSIS: A group of campers hiking through the mountains are terrorized (and brutally killed) by a crazed hillbilly who lives in the area. REVIEW: There are tons of movies that involve campers being slaughtered by some wilderness-dwelling madman, and the biggest majority of them were produced in the 1980's.

The one and only Mike Kellin who had a short-lived but very versatile career. His performance as the dad in Midnight Express was outstanding. Unfortunately he smoked a lot of cigars and died young not too long after he did Sleepaway Camp....The Horror!!
