IT'S THE "RATTLERS," RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! - MARCH EDITION KICKS OFF WITH 1976 B-FLICK - THE HORROR!!

Greetings all - Welcome to the March edition. This here B-flick post is dedicated to my ole chum, life-long pal and close chum. Yep, it's Mr Ed's Attic himself, we're coming up on 50, yes 50 years of friendship. Every year in the spring the rattlesnakes in his area start knocking on the sliding glass door, a source of annual horrors. I have this flick as part of the 50 drive-in movies set by Millcreek and it's one of the better in the lot. You can read some real reviews below, Rattlers has been featured before and has a Pinewoods Rating of One & 3/4 Pinewoods.....The Horror!!

RATTLERS - "They're Waiting To Slither You" (1976)

As painful as it might be, it IS still the year of the snake, so we had to get this one in before year's end! I'll be as gentle as possible, but let me just say that the tag line for this movie should actually read "WHAT A HORRIBLE WAY TO LIE!"

Rattlers (1976)

After watching Snowbeast , it was time to dive into another 1970s animal's gone wild movie. This time I chose, Rattlers , where killer rattlesnakes of the American Southwest gather up in large numbers and start unprovoked attacks on people, and it is up to a male expert on reptiles and a female photographer to find out why and stop them.

PETER GABRIEL 1977! - PG 1 TURNED 40 TODAY, PG's SITE ARTICLE + ROCHESTER '77 BOOT THE HORROR

I so remember where I was when this came out and specifically when I first heard it as I was going to a boarding school in 11th grade way out in the boonies of Central Arizona. Lamb Lies Down had been my compass and bible for a couple years and I could not wait to hear this so when I got back to the dorm, I ran to my room, slammed the door and put the record on a Technics turntable with Pioneer headphones. I was not disappointed and as the paths split, I would go on to follow PG closely and Collins-led Genesis for an album or two and then not much at all.....The Horror!!

It was 40 years ago today... - PeterGabriel.com

Peter's first solo album was released 40 years ago today! "This record was my first step as a solo artist, the first step away from being a part of a band. I was uncertain of what I could or couldn't do so went with some of Bob Ezrin's choice of musicians (including Tony Levin)...

Shitty mic alert on this one, one of those tragic ones because the taper is close and has a good mix of all the instruments. With good mics, this could have been a really sweet capture, but don't get me wrong, we'll take any PG show from this era and this one, the 2nd of the tour....The Horror!! 7daylink Rating B+

WELCOME TO TOMMY'S HOUSE OF HORRORS, WE'RE OPEN COME "HELL OR HIGH WATER" - THE HORROR!!

Released in August and still showing in a few scattered theaters, Come Hell Or High Water is an excellent bank robbery crime drama. Scoring high in many areas, my only two minor complaints would be Jeff Bridges, who's great as always but uses the same exact accent he used in Crazy Heart with the Southern country singer twang. Also, the third act drags just a tad. Love the comradery between Bridges and his Native American partner, hilarious at times. You can read some real reviews below but all in all I give this one Three & 1/2 Pinewoods.....The Horror!!

Hell or High Water Movie Review (2016) | Roger Ebert

If only it had spent a little more time trying to find its own voice and a little less overtly trying to ape the styles of its influences, Hell or High Water might have been as good of a movie as it wishes it was.

'Hell or High Water': The Story Behind Summer's Sleeper Hit

Chris Pine kept fixating on a single image. "I had this picture in my head," the 35-year-old actor recalls, his voice echoing over a speakerphone from Austin, Texas. "It was two guys on a porch, real rustic. One of them is sitting, the other is standing, kind of leaning on one of the porch's columns.

DOUBLE SHOT OF HALL & OATES ON A TWOS DAY! - 1978's "ALONG THE RED LEDGE" IS THE HORROR

Ah yes, the dreaded yet unique "Along The Red Ledge" album. Everyone seems to have a different opinion about this one, there's a cut n paste below from a fan's blog that has some great insight. A little bit of everything on this album from soul to r&b to rock and even new wave. "It's A Laugh" is one of Hall's all-time greatest penned alone and the hit "I Don't Wanna Lose You" is about as perfect a pop love song as you can get, A black sheep album among their catalog but one worth checkin' out....The Horror!!
Hall & Oates’ first album to be produced by David Foster, the talented multi-instrumentalist/composer who has also overseen albums by dozens of artists in a variety of genres. Most of his work is clean, professional & MOR (middle-of-the-road). He may not be a cutting edge producer but he usually delivers very commercial music and he was an excellent choice to work with Hall & Oates at this point in their career. Along The Red Ledge is also their most consistent (and consistently enjoyable) collection of songs since Abandoned Luncheonette and deserved a wider audience, but again they didn’t deliver that one killer single that would have helped raise its profile. With 7 out of 10 songs worth discussing in detail, it has the highest hit-to-miss ratio of all the albums covered in this post, and it’s the first of their ‘70s RCA records that I would recommend to anyone just discovering this era. - Kamer Tunes blog

5 HORRIFIC SEAN PENN FLICK PICKS! - FINAL PICK '85's "THE FALCON & THE SNOWMAN" - THE HORROR!!

I wanted to end with something from his earlier days and this flick is one that flies below the radar and is deserving of a new generation of fans. In a nutshell, it's about two chums that decide to sell US secrets to Soviet Union, the absolute horror. Another amazing Penn performance, What else would we expect?.....The Horror!!

The Falcon and the Snowman Movie Review (1985) | Roger Ebert

A few years ago there were stories in the papers about a couple of California kids who were caught selling government secrets to the Russians. The stories had an air of unreality about them.

GENESIS THREE TIMES! - PHIL'S 1ST BOSTON '76. MSG NY '77 & ORIGINAL 2LP MIX OF G LIVE - THE HORROR!!

GENESIS THREE TIMES?
WHY THE HELL NOT!
"Boston 1976"
Great show and a Dan Lampinski capture, one of my favs of the many he did. Excellent audience sound as usual and a really special boot all around. This is a Boston audience getting their first taste of the Phil Collins led Genesis and whether for good or bad effect, he wins them over very early on. As an unusual boneless, I'm throwing in a 3rd Genesis show below "MSG 1977" because I was in attendance at the tender age of 14, me and my pal Tenny brought to the show what was then referred to as a "5-Finger Lid," ya dig? There was little to none left by encore's end and a virtual cloud of smoke followed us outside....The Horror!! 7daylink Set List Rating A+

5 HORRIFIC SEAN PENN FLICK PICKS! - THIS TIME A COKED OUT CASTING DIRECTOR IN "HURLYBURLY"

More acting genius in a role that would certainly would have been nominated had it not been for the Academy's disdain for the type of character he plays....The Horror, we say, The Horror!!

Hurlyburly Movie Review & Film Summary (1998) | Roger Ebert

First witch: When shall we three meet again? In thunder, lightning, or in rain? Second witch: When the hurlyburly's done, when the battle's lost and won. --"Macbeth" The philosopher William James thought that addiction expressed a yearning for the divine.
